I believe the best way to learn is by working one on one and then taking the lessons learned and working out problems with out a tutor present and then bringing back the problems that caused a struggle. Even better is working in a group of peers and then checking in with a tutor weekly so that the student and tutor can zero in on what the sticking points were that week. I am a high school senior and have been tutoring peers since middle school. Because I am so young I have very few official tutoring hours, however I do mentor freshmen through our highschool EAP program and younger girls through the STEM program.
