I believe the best way to learn is by working one on one and then taking the lessons learned and working out problems with out a tutor present and then bringing back the problems that caused a struggle. Even better is working in a group of peers and then checking in with a tutor weekly so that the student and tutor can zero in on what the sticking points were that week. In 1977, I became Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a position I held until I retired in 2005.
