A Little Bit About Me...

As both a teacher and a counselor I have worked to develop a teaching style that is student focused. In order to do that I want to inspire and challenge the student to reveal their abilities and interests and track them as they develop. The student and I will set specific goal areas with attainable steps, so that we can both check the progress. With a thorough knowledge of the material along with good organization, the process of learning can be creative and lively for both the student and the teacher.

For four years I taught in private schools, where I gave instruction at the middle and high school levels in English, French, Hebrew, computer programming, and office applications (spreadsheets, etc). I taught Math and English for one year at a Huntingdon Learning Center (elementary through high school students). Prior to this I taught French and Linguistics courses at the State University of NY at Albany where I earned a degree in each of those fields. Later I became a database administrator. Today I develop web applications in the C# programming language and the Transact SQL query language. I have also given private music lessons over the years to a total of 20 to 30 students. I currently hold an Associates of Science Degree in Accounting as well a a Bachelors degree in Commercial design and mass communications. Although drill may be appropriate for some skills, my preference is project or problem based methods that draw on the learner's experiences and interests.
