I define teaching as the process by which I help students to learn. I guide learning by helping students individually, at other times instructing an entire class, and still at other times by encouraging class participation. Spontaneity is a valued part of teaching. If the teaching appears memorized, not spoken diaphragmatically, not spoken with eye contact, and if there are no visual aids, learning will likely not take place. Learning is, of course, the main purpose of education. It is the goal of every student and the task of every teacher to increase knowledge and understanding in the classroom. I feel that the concept of learning should be focused around four main areas. Independent thought is essential to the development of each student. Being able to form unique independent ideas to solve problems will serve them both in and outside of the classroom. Group interaction is also an imp ... read more

I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I spent the 2011-2012 school year teaching at a title 1 school in Collier County and have grown exponentially from it! I had several students in my class who needed special help, and half of my class were English language learners. These students have helped me to strengthen my skills and adapt to different student's styles.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all students are capable of learning. It is the role of the educator to help students identify their strengths and provide them with the tools that will help them integrate new knowledge into existing schemas. I try to integrate metacognitive tools into content teaching to instill life long learning.
I have over 350 hours of experience working in middle school intensive reading classrooms, 180 hours in a 7th grade science room, completed an internship in a 7th and 8th grade science classroom, and volunteered at Naples Botanical Gardens. I've been a teacher's unofficial little helper since I was in Elementary, helping the students of my class that the teacher simply didn't have the extra time to help. From then on, I helped and even eventually taught my younger siblings when the current school system left them in the dust, and even helped them get a leg up and advance faster than their classmates. I've tutored a few younger kids in various subjects in my high school years, as well as occasionally teaching Taekwondo classes.
My teaching style is flexible, tailored to the specific needs of the student in question. Everybody learns differently and at different paces!

I enjoy working with elementary school children as well as adults. I have much to offer in regards to being bilingual. Read, write and speak the Spanish Language. Being able to tutor others regardless of age is a blessing that is a learning experience for the tutor as well as the student. As I have enjoyed and receive great pleasure in reading I would also like to continue to pass this great gift to others.
As a recent graduate of Strayer University, Adult Education I have had the priviledge during my work experience to be able to tutor reading with first and second graders from inner city school program under the PNC BANK reading program. As a Nurse Manager of an ICU, I was tapped to teach IV Therapy and heart rhythm monitoring classes. That developed into a FT position as a Nursing Inservice Coordinator, then later as a Director of a hospital wide education department, either teaching classes myself(such as in CPR)or coordinating others to teach. My years as a consultant I either taught seminars having to do with quaility improvement or worked with smaller groups and on-in-one in business/hospital facilities. As a Personal Coordinator, most recently, I taught new employees timekeeping, payroll procedures and specific computer access steps.I think my stronger suit might be in reading and science, but I think that I could manage elementary level math.
I like more interactive methods, as that is the basically what I did the majority of the time. I don't enjoy seminars with large groups as much. I try to be very patient a ... read more

I have been working with children for 10 years and absolutely enjoy it. My belief is that all students can succeed when given the chance. During my pre test I assess the student and observe to implement the best tutoring tactic for each and every child. All children are different and special in each and every way. The best reward in tutoring is to see the student being tutored academically succeed. When tutoring not only does the tutor need to know the material being taught but also be able to communicate well with the child and bond in order to get across and be effective. Another important thing is to communicate with the parents and the teachers regularly to that the areas in need are being reinforced in all aspects.

I am a recent Business graduate with a 4.0 GPA, who volunteers my time everyday at James Stephens International Academy, as a teacher assistant. I don’t have a specific age group that I prefer; I love inspiring children to make the right choices, when it comes to education. I tell my daughter all the time how blessed she is to do any kind of school activity, because I didn’t make those wise decisions, I chose to drop out of school in the eight grade. It’s nothing that I am proud of, that’s why I am committed to enhancing and supporting the education of my daughter an ... read more
