Between 1983 and 1989, as a long-term substitute teacher for the ROP (in CA), I taught Computer Sciences (which included Elementary Math and Algebra)at Anderson Valley High School in Boonville CA. As a full-time teacher, I taught Culinary Arts for the ROP for four years at the Fort Bragg High School, Fort Bragg, CA. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in history and minors in biology and psychology. Earning a history degree required me to write several essays, including a thirty-page research paper, and this experience made me a better writer (and eventually, a better teacher). After graduating, I worked at a tutoring center for over a year, teaching English and history to K-12 students and math to K-6 students. I also prepared students for AP history tests and the reading and writing components of the SAT. My professional responsibilities included devising lesson plans, assigning homework, grading essays, writing progress reports, and running a debate club for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders.
