Since that time I have devoted myself to getting the education necessary for that dream to come true.I now have a Bachelor's in English, and a Master's in Education. While attending school I tutored after-school students and substituted whenever possible. Concurrent with my Master's studies I was attending the teacher training program. I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in history and minors in biology and psychology. Earning a history degree required me to write several essays, including a thirty-page research paper, and this experience made me a better writer (and eventually, a better teacher). After graduating, I worked at a tutoring center for over a year, teaching English and history to K-12 students and math to K-6 students. I also prepared students for AP history tests and the reading and writing components of the SAT. Everyone has style of teaching that is unique. Mine is at first appearance very laid back, but on closer inspection is very powerful and extremely effective in the long run. My strategy as a teacher is to study and assess a student first, then to develop a plan with the student regarding how we should approach a task or problem.
