Hi, my name is Brittany G. I am a graduate of Southeastern University where I earned a B.S. in General Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Western Governor's University where I earned a Master's in teaching Science. I have been teaching for Sarasota County since 2007. I entered Virginia Tech as an honors math and physics student and graduated in three years with my BS in physics. At the moment I am trying to decide if I would like to go to grad school to continue on to something else, hopefully with math and physic as at least peripherally relevant. I have never taught a class and have tutored in only in a limited capacity. I however was apart of Virginia Tech's first Physics education class and program and found that I really actually enjoy teaching for teaching's sake. I start off by asking the student what he/she is having difficulty understanding in regard to the material we are going over. Then, I proceed to monitor how the student solves problems. Watching the problem-solving methods of students allows me to determine almost immediately where I need to place attention for assistance. I find it very crucial to demonstrate how to solve the problem after the student has made an attempt, in order to teach the quickest and easiest way to answer the problem.
