I have a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from West Virginia University. I also played football in college and was active in tutoring fellow players. My course load was heavy in chemistry, physics, biology, and biochemistry. I have also taken the MCATs in preparation for medical school and scored a 36 (98th percentile), so I am also qualified to assist students in MCAT preparation.
I have a laid back style of teaching. I like to simplify difficult concepts and explain in different terms in order to help the student understand it. I am very good at presenting information in a different way in order to make difficult concepts easier.

I am a huge proponent of the dialectic and Socratic methods of teaching, while recognizing the need for the didactic to learn the basic methods of academics. As a high school student, I excelled in math and science. I received a 5 on BC Calculus, AP Statistics and AP Environmental Science, and 4 in AP Chemistry and AP American History. At Duke University, I majored in environmental science and policy, with a minor in economics. After working for three years for non-profits, I decided medicine was more aligned with my interests. I attended Georgetown University post-baccalaureate pre-medical program. I completed 26 hours of credits with a 3.94 GPA. I took the MCAT in May of 2007 and placed in the 97th percentile across the nation.

Earning a degree in Communications accelerated my skills in writing through Journalism, research papers and Rhetorical studies. Additionally, writing is something I enjoy and practice on a daily basis.
