I believe children are most responsive when treated as intelligent individuals. I try to give my students the same respect I would want. I am very patient and calm, but I love to learn and try to instill a sense of fun and love of learning. Children learn differently, and it is important to be open to different methods of tutoring. I have found through my teaching, tutoring, and personal study that information stays better if students understand why and how things work as much as possible rather than rote memorization. It's true that every student learns at a different pace with a different style. I like to see myself as a cameleon teacher, catering my format to individual needs. My style tends to be laid back so that students are comfortable expressing their likes and dislikes with me, curbing their fear of not understanding something. I love to use metaphors, pictures, examples and stories to illustrate the subject in a new and perhaps clearer way. I became a teacher because I enjoy working with children. I enjoy helping them in their learning process. When they do well in achieving their goal it's rewarding to me. I know I have accomplished something. All my students achieved a grade level or more whether I tutored on my own or with Club Z Tutoring Service.
I believe every child is entitled to an education regardless of any circumstance. They should strive to achieve all they can become. I try to be a teacher with patience, a good listener, and to encourage all my students with a positive attitude. My students needs come first and I try to always have extra time for them if they require it.
