I believe children are most responsive when treated as intelligent individuals. I try to give my students the same respect I would want. I am very patient and calm, but I love to learn and try to instill a sense of fun and love of learning. Children learn differently, and it is important to be open to different methods of tutoring. I have found through my teaching, tutoring, and personal study that information stays better if students understand why and how things work as much as possible rather than rote memorization. When memorization is necessary, I try to use mnemonic devices such as poems and songs whenever possible (“‘I’ before ‘e’ except after ‘c’ or when sounded as ‘ay’ as in neighbor or weigh.”).

A Little Bit About Me...

I got my bachelors degree from India. My specialization was in Physics, Chemistry and Math. I am interested in chemistry and hence I enrolled into a Master's program in Chemistry and after that I worked as a chemistry lecturer in India. It gave me great pleasure to instruct students on the concepts of general and organic chemistry. Then I moved to USA and then registered at the University of North Carolina to obtain another Master's degree. While I was doing my graduation studies I also worked as a Teaching Assistant and I have taught undergraduate students. The master's program I enrolled was a research based program and hence I had to write a thesis on the research I performed. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very hands on person, who believes that with patience each person can learn. Some people must understand that each person learns in a different way. I do not believe that people should compare one child to the next, because it is unfair.
With a BA in communications and a minor in sociology, I have an understanding in many subject areas such as, english, history, speech and media. As a graduate student I have extensive experience in writing papers and doing extensive research. I have worked as a newsroom researcher in the past. I am currently working on my graduate Thesis as well. I have experience in teaching students in elementary school up to the college level.
