Hello, I have been a teacher in central Florida for 6 years. I have always taught at the middle school leve, although my student teaching was done at the High school level. Prior to becoming a teacher I served 5 years in the U.S. Navy. I have also worked with Juinor Acheivement and the Boys and Girls club of America.
My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

15 years experience in a broad variety of subjects!

I have a way of perceiving the difficulty the student has, and am able to explain the material in a simple way that makes it easy for students to grasp. I have a good rapport with my student and have had several that have told me that I am the best teacher they have ever had(which didn't hurt my ego!!) I also have a good sense of humor which puts students at ease- and it is proven that a tense mind can not learn, only when the student loses their anxiety over the material will they absorb it!
I have been tutoring for over 15 years both in students homes or at public locations such as coffee shops or the public library. My education and experience are broad. I was educated at "Ivy League" level schools and purposefully educated myself in a large variety of the humanities, which in essence all tie together. Basic courses up through most High School material outside of the Humanit ... read more

My efforts have resulted in three achievements that continue to directly benefit my students. (1) I maintained classroom decorum by assigning classroom positions of responsibility. (2) I introduced and encouraged the self-beneficial learning strategies of metacognition in order to combat low motivational issues. (3) I created a computer-based assessment system in order to increase the quality and completion rate of homework assignments. I believe that my students’ academic success depends not only on mastering the content, but also on learning how to teach themselves anything they wish to learn. “You can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will feed himself and others for the rest of his life.”
In early 2006 I decided to give back to the community and entered the teaching profession in the public sector. In 2009 I became a Professionall ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is "one-on-one" for the most part. My first instinct with tutoring is empathetic: if I were struggling in this particular subject, what would be the best way for me to understand it? If this method proves ineffective, I would choose a different technique. I am a visual learner so I often teach visually. I feel it is my job to inspire a student to want to love learning in the most effective manner of doing so.
I graduated with a BS in theology because I felt it was interesting as much as it was challenging! A reason for this is because I've always helped youth in a para-ministry setting (volunteer/paid) and found a knowledge of Theology helped a great deal. I worked for a non-profit organization off and on for a total of close to 4 years. For approx 3 of those 4 years, I worked in a private school setting with Jr. high and Sr. high students. My role was to p ... read more

Each child learns in different ways, and as a Tudor/teacher it is my responsibility to discover the method of teaching that matches a child’s way of learning. I am patient, understanding and provide a constructive approach to learning. All children have the potential of learning; some simply require a different method and approach to grasp the information and it is my duty to provide such approach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with children for several years. I started by teaching dance at a local dance studio while I was in high school. It was from this experience that I chose to go to college to become a teacher. I have a degree in Elementary Education and am ESOL certified. During my four years of undergraduate studies, I have spent three years tutoring in the subject area of English. While maintaining a full course load and working full time, I have managed to tutor over 107 students during this period. The majority of the material covered included essay writing at a college level, (scholarship essays, admissions essays, formation of a thesis paper, etc.). After graduating with a BA in English, I went on to pursue a career in teaching. Over the last year, I have had the opportunity to teach at both a middle school and a high school level. This has given me the experience necessary to tutor a younger age group, and has helped me learn new ways to assist students in understanding the material. Currently as a 10th grade teacher, I volunteer both my lunch and planning period to tutor students for the FCAT, assist them with essay writing, grammar and usage, as ... read more

My teaching style is to help students find the answers on their own. By asking a series of questions you can help students to find their own answers and express them in their own way. By doing this you not only teach them a subject, but you teach them the more important skill of knowing how to learn. I believe all students, from pre-school to doctorate level possess the same capacity to learn. The challenge for educators is to find the style that works best for each student.
My senior year in high school I was a tutor for a second grade elementary class, assisting the teacher with reading exercises, as well as correcting various assignments.
