The public educational system has provided me with multiple opportunities to expand my knowledge and understanding of the academic process and the challenges students meet. I have been a substitute teacher, para-professional, art teacher, after-school director, speech language aide, and vision aide throughout my early career. As a writing center consultant, I was instructed not to spend much time proofreading student papers or reviewing small minutiae. Instead, my goal was to educate students about the fundamentals of writing papers, such as formulating a clear thesis and establishing a clear paragraph structure.
