A Little Bit About Me...

Having worked with students of all ages in a variety of settings, I specialize in teaching science and math concepts as well as test prep and study skills. My mission as a tutor is to help students understand subject content while learning how to learn. My favorite part of being a teacher is watching confusion and doubt become knowledge and confidence. I believe that this transition of ignorance to understanding is the hallmark of education and my goal is to motivate my students to seek these opportunities.
Born and raised in upstate New York, I graduated from Cornell University in the spring of 2000 with a B.S. in Biology. When I was working as a secretary I knew I wanted to further my education. I returned to school and completed my bachelor of science in education. As a classroom teacher I realized the many problems my students had to deal with. This prompted my to complete my master in school counseling. I have attended several workshops throughout my career to enchance my teaching and counseling methods with Reading, Writing and Grammar for students of any age.
I love working with students. As a teacher I enjoy the learning process and love watching the students discover new concepts and ideas. As as school counsleor I assisted students in working at their emotional and challenging behaviors. In both positions I strongly believe each student has the potential to learn. I teach to the different learn styles of my students.
