A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating with my Chemistry degree in 1997, I have volunteered off and on within the classroom, mentoring and tutoring children of all ages. I have several younger siblings and children of my own, so I have taken the many opportunities to go in and out of the classroom as a classroom parent, after school program teacher, guest speaker, and mentor and judge for the Future City competition (an annual engineering competition for middle school children). I earned my BA in Political Science and graduated from one of the best state schools in the United States, then went to law school and graduated near the top of my class. Both degrees involved large and complex amounts of reading and writing as well as excellent study habits. For the past five years as part of my job I taught reading and writing to individuals with developmental disabilities. I am the eldest of six children and tutored my brothers and sisters from kindergarten to 11th grade in all school subjects. I truly enjoy passing my knowledge on to other people.

I am a recent graduate of UNCW with a BA in English and a teaching certification in Secondary Education. Currently interning in the Wilmington area, I have been working with 9th and 10th graders in English, developing basic writing and critical reading skills.
