A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach using everyday life experiences and things that are relative to the tutee. One can read MacBeth and other writers from the past and still be motivated to learn. I don't believe in memorization because that is not learning. I want the child to carry his newly learned knowledge well into his future and always have it available in the back of his mind. It should not be forgotten but built upon. It's like building a brick wall, one brick at a time. It does take time but when that final brick is put in place, what a masterpiece!
As a graduate of Jacksonville University, I feel I received an excellent education and want to give back to the community. I started tutoring in high school and all through college. When I tutored high school and middle school (usually math and science) I had a lot of experience with the subject matter. It made it easier to catch the mistakes. During that time I also taught well over a 1000 (no exaggeration) children to swim. Easy subject matter, but lots of different personalities overcoming a sometimes very difficult skill. Now I help the children I live with. One a very bright, yet lazy, 15 year old.
