A Little Bit About Me...

In high school I served as a big sister, and that's when I gained my passion for kids, and the importance of educating others. That experience led me to apply for a service scholarship which I earned to attend Florida State University. In college I volunteered at a local elementary school, following a group of students as their tutor until I graduated college. This service led to the beginning of my teaching career in Broward County. I sponsored an after school step team, and served as a team leader. I worked part-time through an SES provider as a trainer, training the teachers in math. I later returned to Jacksonville after the death of my father, deciding to move closer to my mother.

I enjoy teaching and I have taught from grades K-12 and some of the children were special need students. Working with special need students required patience with the understanding that there are different learning styles for everybody. My teaching style is to follow the curriulum that is given to me and leave time for questions to be asked by the student. Professional experience started with enlistment in the U.S navy in the year 2000, as a helicopter mechanic for 5 years. After an honorable discharge I've been an employee of Florida State College at Jacksonville as an instructional assistant in math and computers. Following this experience I was hired as an Arabic all call interpreter with language line in Monterey California. This job had to be terminated for the required student teaching experience that only ended in may 2010.
