A Little Bit About Me...

Experience: My teaching experiences are diverse! I am a Certified MN Teacher in Health and Physical Education, but have been involved in various other content areas. I am enthusiastic about learning and willing to assist students with their learning goals! My experiences began at the Middle School level, teaching 8th grade Health. Next, I taught 6-8 grade Physical Education. Then I substitute taught in nearly every subject, grades 4-12. This past summer I taught a Wellness and Recreation class for a chemical dependency treatment program. For the last year, I have taught night school at an Alternative High School in Health and PE. Tutoring Advantage was founded by Joan Robertson in 2006. Joan is a licensed teacher, trained in the Orton-Gillingham method and specializes in Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and learning disabilities. Joan attended Bemidji State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with a math emphasis in November 1992. In May of 1992 she completed her kindergarten student teaching and kindergarten intercultural course work at Vaxjo University in Sweden. Although I have recently graduated with a degree in business, I am interested in pursuing a career involving people. My previous employment was a sales position that was very customer-oriented. I also have 3 years of experience helping children by teaching swimming lessons. Assisting my 15-year-old sister with her school work is also a regular activity.
