A Little Bit About Me...

My first major mentoring/teaching experience occurred in college when I began leading study groups and eventually organizing tutoring sessions with a number of my fellow English, Calculus, and Physics students. I then obtained a position as a youth counselor with the YMCA and quickly moved up to Site Coordinator where I was in charge of my own after school care group, including being in charge of organizing activities and managing youth counselors. Most recently I underwent PADI Divemaster training where I had real world experience teaching and assisting PADI Open Water students with classroom, confined water, and open water training.

Regardless of the reason that student is seeking tutoring, whether it be a demonstrated deficiency in performance, or a desire to excel in the subject matter, tutoring is an ideal method to provide individualized instruction to the student and tailor that instruction for maximum efficacy. A Little Bit About Me...

I use the Socratic method. I challenge my students to respond to critical, higher level thinking questions. It is through this method that I secure positive results for the student. All students are capable of meeting their individual potential --- the key for the educator is understanding that one student's potential is not necessarily the same as another student's potential.
Since January 2006 I have been teaching in the Dade County Public School System, having recently been promoted to Social Studies Department Head. I have taught AP American Government, AP European HIstory, AP US History, Ap World History, IB History, Law Studies, Contemporary History and Speech and Debate. With a BA in Psychology from FIU, I have learned how all sorts of children react to different learning environments.
