While I was in high school, I took honors courses and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I tutored an 8th grade-9th grade boy in TCAPS preparation and helped him complete homework in Math (pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-geometry), Science (biology), and English. I tutored him for two years. After I graduated high school I was accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I am currently in the spring semester of my sophomore year. I will be returning to Johnson City this summer and am available to tutor. Served over three years as laboratory assistant while attending Greensboro College. Duties included teaching small groups as well as entire laboratory on occasion. Student teaching included upper level Biology and Anatomy courses as well as General Biology at Eastern Randolf High School. Taught general science for four years at the Juvenile Evaluation Center in Swannanoa, NC. Transitioned careers to Medical Laboratory technology for over 12 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I do not have a particular style of teaching. I prefer to talk to the individual I am tutoring and together discover the best way to teach them the subject material. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us. I would also focus on teaching proper study habits so the individuals can apply them and possibly not need a tutor in the future.

I come from a family of educators -- a college professor, a principal, an elementary school teacher, and a school counselor and basketball coach. I think all of these members of my family have influenced me in a positive way in regards to teaching. I am a compassionate, patient person and am willing to help when people need it.
