I believe there is a major difference between teaching the student how to get a good grade and mastering the fundamental concepts that control math and science. When helping a student with Algebra, it is critical to asses their basic skills in mathematical operations. With chemistry, physics and biology it is often a matter of increasing the student’s vocabulary and understanding of the complex terminology and relationships presented by the teacher and the classroom book. I have always had an interest in math and science, and I got my start tutoring in high school by helping fellow classmates and friends in these subjects. A Little Bit About Me...

My previous four year work experience as a engineering, math and physics tutor has taught me how to work well with others by communicating complicated ideas in a simple easy to understand manner. During my experience as a tutor, I effectively solved problems daily while working with team members to formulate solutions for our students. I demonstrated a strong work ethic and would regularly help students after closing time. During my time tutoring I tutored mainly Calculus, Algebra, Trigonometry and Physics I.
I believe students learn by example. I first like to try some examples then let the students try some on their own. A Little Bit About Me...

My wife and I home-schooled our three children from 1993 until 2004. In addition, I was active in Scouts from 1994 until 2007 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. These positions are supervisory in nature and involve both formal and informal teaching, mentoring and guiding. This experience also entailed several summer camps. My goal when working with students is to fully describe the steps necessary to solving various classes of problems, often in an outline form, for it is in learning these steps that a student becomes an independent learner. I like to work through as many examples as the student needs, gradually working them into the problem-solving process, until they are able to work a few completely on their own, or, in some way, demonstrate understanding of the material.
