A Little Bit About Me...

My previous four year work experience as a engineering, math and physics tutor has taught me how to work well with others by communicating complicated ideas in a simple easy to understand manner. During my experience as a tutor, I effectively solved problems daily while working with team members to formulate solutions for our students. I typically employ the Socratic method: asking questions to discover what the student knows (or thinks he knows) and guiding his thinking toward discovering the knowledge himself. My goal when working with students is to fully describe the steps necessary to solving various classes of problems, often in an outline form, for it is in learning these steps that a student becomes an independent learner. I like to work through as many examples as the student needs, gradually working them into the problem-solving process, until they are able to work a few completely on their own, or, in some way, demonstrate understanding of the material.
