My name is Austin Anyanwu, I am a Java programming tutor, a Software Architect/Developer working with a financial institution in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. My teaching style varies based on the child that I am working with that time. I have worked with children with all different kinds of learning styles, so I have learned over the years that you have to be flexible and mindful of the specific child that you are working with. Through my experience I have learned to be more patient, understanding and fair when I am working with the children as well as when I am grading their assignments. During the time that I worked with tutoring companies, I was able to tutor students at their homes as well as on the weekends in a school based setting. These two working environments allowed me to have a sense of diversity in the styles of which I taught the children.

A Little Bit About Me...

From 1997 to 2008 I was a school technologist in Maine public schools. I organized extracurricular programs, worked with individual students and small groups, and co-taught math and science classes. My teaching centered on math, computers, physics, and general science. Some of my extracurricular activities included a robotics club; summer computer programming classes for early elementary students; and field expeditions to study insects. I also offered workshops for teachers and parents. Before working in schools, I was a scientific and systems computer programmer and used math as part of my daily work.
