I am very patient and concerned. My major objective is to identify the area that needs to be addressed. I often also use comparisons to 'real world' similarities in order to make the point. It is also necessary to understand how a person perceives, rationalizes and applies information, as every person is different in this process. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I enjoy teaching and couldn't see myself doing much else.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a pretty flexible teacher, utilizing technology and on-line resources frequently today. Earlier in my career I did more traditional lecture with a dose of Socratic method mixed in. I believe a key is to relate the material to something the students knows and cares about.
I have taught for 30 Years. The first 9 years at Cleveland Central Catholic, mostly traditional Social Studies classes with a few honors level. Since 1989 I have been at Fairview HS, teaching At-risk and regular classes in Social Studies; Government, World History and American History.
