I have taught classes on aviation related subjects for my Civil Air Patrol. I was homeschooled all the way to the college level, and I remember a lot of subjects in great detail. I have not taught classes at a high school or college. Generally speaking, I have a vast area of knowledge and I know I can help you with your learning needs!

I love teaching and helping others learn something new. I love the smile in a child's eyes when they figure out what they have learned. As a type one diabetic, I constantly figure out new things and apply them to my life. I want to impact those I teach for the better, so they can share their knowledge with the world. I enjoy teaching adults as well as high school students. I do not have much training teaching below junior high; however, I am confident that I could successfully teach math or language. Although, I don't mind the traditional classroom setting, I am quite used to instructing on a one-to-one basis. Our GED programs are completely individualized for learners to move at their own pace, and I encourage this type of teaching style when manageable. Many of the students/adults that I have worked with have a learning disability of some sort, but I feel that I learn from each student just as much as they are learning from me. I have taught for 30 Years. The first 9 years at Cleveland Central Catholic, mostly traditional Social Studies classes with a few honors level. Since 1989 I have been at Fairview HS, teaching At-risk and regular classes in Social Studies; Government, World History and American History.
I am a pretty flexible teacher, utilizing technology and on-line resources frequently today. Earlier in my career I did more traditional lecture with a dose of Socratic method mixed in. I believe a key is to relate the material to something the students knows and cares about.

I feel my style of teaching is one of being a facilitator. I choose to interact with the student by asking questions so enabling them to reach the answer through their own thinking processes. The excitement of seeing their confidence build as they realize they can figure out problems independently is the reward of being an educator. I believe my job is to guide and support the student.
