Over many years as an IT person, I worked with clients, one on one, teaching them how to get their computer to do what they want it to do. Often times, the client would be very frustrated. I needed to first, relieve the frustration – then determine what needed to be done to rectify the situation (through a question and answer processes). Additionally, positive reinforcement is needed throughout the learning process to allow for a more affirmative result.

As an Ivy league graduate, I was driven to acheive a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a bachelor degree in education and masters degree in education with a major in mathematics. I tend to use stories and analogies to break down complex and arcane concepts into everyday images to make them easier to understand. Accounting lends itself well to this approach because at its core GAAP accounting is nothing more than a common sense approach to valuing and reporting financial transactions. Shorn of their technical jargon, one can see that they are easy to understand. The key is how to remove the technical wrappings so that the student can see the intuitive logic behind the jargon.
