I try to adapt my style to the needs of the student so I can teach in many different ways. I have tutored many people of various ages, past students have been as young as 5 and as old as 17. I am 18 years old but am highly skilled in the area of mathematics having taken 8 math classes above Algebra 1. I like to teach and I also like to hear how people learn. I like to relate the subject matter to something that the student enjoys so it is easier for them to grasp. I do try to get students to make discoveries for themselves so that they retain the information longer. I try to instill a sense of passion with my work and I encourage learning beyond the accepted minimum. I have had an extensive career in business. I have had a number of accounting/finance positions in the business world. My most successful position was with a chain of 30 Hallmark stores. I started as the accountant and eventually became the President of the company. I have had other positions as Controller and Accountants of other businesses. I have noticed a couple things in my years tutoring people in math. I have noticed that many people have trouble with the fundamental concepts of fractions, decimals, order of operations, and adding/subtracting positive and negative numbers. If a student does not have these concepts together much of the 'higher level' mathematics can seem a blur and highly confusing.
