As a biochemistry student at University of the Pacific, I was required to know the science so well that even if a random person on the street asks me a question, I would be able to explain it to him/her in a way that they could understand. I believe anyone can teach a subject, having enough knowledge of a subject allows one to pass it on. However, I feel what many teachers do not do is teach students how to learn. It is in my belief that teaching students to learn enables them to think independently allowing them to become more creative rather than repetitive. So not only do I teach students the subject, I teach them how to learn and apply it to every other subject.
