Graphic Designers are creative problem solvers.

I am all about a hands on learning experience. I have the student take thorough notes about the programs I teach so they can go back and learn on their own. Graphic design is all about problem solving so I challenge my students to figure out the solution in a creative way where they will retain the information.
I have been a Graphic Designer since 2008 specializing in Print Media. I have an expert knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. I work full time as a Graphic Designer and Part Time as an after school Elementary Art instructor (teaching drawing and cartooning). Art is my passion. I was enrolled in private drawing lessons at the age of 8 and continued to study fine art through college. I paint and draw and craft for fun.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! Drawing has been - and will continue to be - my lifelong passion. I graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 2010 with an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts, and I am highly experienced in various types of media. I am also an experienced tutor, and I have a great desire to share what I have learned with others.

I take a very hands-on approach when instructing my pupils. I encourage them to practice the techniques they learn from me as I am teaching them, as opposed to having them sit through a lecture and complete assignments afterward. This enables them to learn at their own pace, and has been proven to successfully increase both their productivity and their desire to create.
I have been drawing my entire life, and have successfully completed numerous high school- and college-level art courses pertaining to my major in Fine Arts. Throughout my studies, I have had extensive experience in life drawing, graphic design, animation, character and object design, and color theory. I am highly proficient in working with various types of media, including graphite, pen and ink, acrylic paint, colored pencil, and charcoal. I am a seasoned portrait artist with an affinity for capturing personal liken ... read more

Everyone is an artist.

I use a personalized and 'hands-off'/demonstration style of teaching. I dislike telling a student that there is a certain method they should use, instead preferring to suggest and show how I would approach a problem or get them to approach a problem differently than how they are at that moment.
I have been teaching for the past two years in the art field and related. I taught at TIC Summer camp in the summer of 2012 how to use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.). I am currently working with an after school program that teaches children between the ages of 6 and 12 what goes behind videogame creation.

My teaching style varies based on the child that I am working with that time. I have worked with children with all different kinds of learning styles, so I have learned over the years that you have to be flexible and mindful of the specific child that you are working with. Through my experience I have learned to be more patient, understanding and fair when I am working with the children as well as when I am grading their assignments. During the time that I worked with tutoring companies, I was able to tutor students at their homes as well as on the weekends in a school based setting. These two working environments allowed me to have a sense of diversity in the styles of which I taught the children.
It has always been a passion of mine to work with and educate young children and youth. I began tutoring at a Elementary School for a few hours when I was in high school as well as assis ... read more

Throughout many years of tutoring my peers and underclassmen, I have obtained several techniques to help students study effectively. Currently, I am an educational sign language interpreter working in a middle school. I have my Bachelors degree in Communication and Science Disorders with a concentration in the Interpreter Training Track as well as a minor in American Sign Language.
