I have a lot of experience not only in fields that you may need help learning, but I also spent time during college tutoring classmates as I was in the class and developed a style to help students learn quickly and also reinforce the concepts. I understand the student to determine the best learning style for you and I make the transformation teaching you the material in an effective manner.
I first find out your true objective for learning the material. I can read about it, or hear a lecture about it, but seeing it helps me understand the subject. This type of teaching would be done with movies, drawing or acting out the situation. In my teaching, I try to use all methods available to me to help the students learn and to use their creativity. I especially try to get students to work in groups and to share their work with each other. I find that pier groups provide the best help in understanding the subject matter. I spent 2 years tutoring Math for the students in my Mothers classroom afterschool (4th grade). I spent one year in college working with special needs students from the local elementary school, which included writing lesson plans and executing activities in group form. I taught one year of 7th grade Health and Physical Education. I tutored all the students at the end of the year to help them achieve passing scores on End Of Grade testing.
I do not like to teach out of textbooks. I use them primarily as resources. I prefer to create a lesson or activity that plays to the strengths of the individual child/student and challenges them on their particular level. I have found interactive lessons are very effective for all age ranges.
