My comments on tutoring Typing Skills : Last I checked, my typing speed was 65 wpm. Simple games and constant practice/interaction in a world of digital communication are what it takes to get the words out of your head and into a keyboard. Almost all my tutoring help requires that the student be able to write on a keyboard, and I am always glad to help improve typing skills.

I'm a recent college graduate from NC State, with a degree in Creative Writing. However, the CW course instilled in me knowledge in a variety of fields from film to philosophy, and as a requirement of modern education made me more than just fluent in the language of computers. I'm a would-be author, and a writer of short stories, and have won an honorable mention in a few poetry contests. In college I was frequently asked by friends in less liberal majors for help in writing papers and getting ideas across, because while a Biology major dreads the 25 page research paper, the English major just shrugs and says "I just wrote like, three of those yesterday." So I hope now I can help you get better grades or appreciably improve your standards of writing. Once I have an understanding of what a student is capable of I like to push them to go past their "comfort zone" in learning. It helps them understand that what may look difficult, may not always be so and that they only way to find out is to learn it. Also, I do not teach study habits. Instead I like to see what a students current habits are and work on expanding those habits so that the child does not get frustrated and overwhelmed. It is easier to learn more from current knowledge than try to teach a whole new way. After all, most students study habits are based on how their teacher has taught them, and I wouldn't go against what the teacher has taught. I believe that everyone learns information at a different pace and that some information is easier to process than other information. I believe that individuals should be comfortable while learning in order for them to actually learn. I would never force someone to learn "my way" and would work with them on developing a way that works for both of us.
