My comments on tutoring Study Skills : The strategy of seeing how what is being studied can be applied is a great way to learn.

I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.
I am a Mechanical Engineering and Geology dual major with a 3.6 GPA. I understand mathematics very well and have tutored fellow students in math and physics, successfully for years. In teaching childbirth classes as well as CPR and First Aid classes I have utilized lecture, audio-visuals, written materials, and demonstration/return demonstration methods of teaching. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible.
