I am a teacher and tutor. A good deal of my experience has been teaching Reading and Language Arts. I also have a degree in Learning Disabilities. I have taught general education as well as special education. I have taught at all levels. My most recent experience is in a primary class. I have also tutored secondary and college level students in Writing Skills and Reading. The individual needs of the student will direct my teaching strategies. During high school I mainly tutored my neighbor's young children in elementary subjects. In college I helped fellow classmates in my major and minor. The most challenging tutoring experience I had was when my own brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and he was taken out of school for months at a time. Once I have an understanding of what a student is capable of I like to push them to go past their "comfort zone" in learning. It helps them understand that what may look difficult, may not always be so and that they only way to find out is to learn it. Also, I do not teach study habits. Instead I like to see what a students current habits are and work on expanding those habits so that the child does not get frustrated and overwhelmed.
