A Little Bit About Me...

Education has played an important role in my life and success since my elementary school years, and I feel its value is immeasurable. In 2007, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry. Currently, I am a nursing student, as my ultimate goal is to be a pediatric nurse practitioner. I began tutoring my peers in middle school for Algebra I and continued for years. I feel that I can relate to children because I am also a child at heart. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening). By learning the child's learning type you can tell which method appeals to them and can create a learning environment to encourage their growth at a faster rate. I also have a history in the theatrical arts and vocal music performance which can assist in grasping the child's attention during those times of relaxed focus. Lastly, I feel that positive encouragment is key to building confidence and trust in those students with lowered self esteem.
