My comments on tutoring Drama : I have appeared in several mini productions at churches and youth organizations throughout the city of Memphis,TN. I have taken theater courses while attending college. I was one of the lead characters in a commercial done in December of 2008 for TN Blue, an organization helping to fight against rape. Also, I was the lead girl in the video made for a song in which I sang lead entitled, "No Baby;" it was written and produced by leaders of Youth Visions, Inc. in hopes to speak out against the high teen pregnancy rate in the 38127 area code.

My teaching style is dependent upon the student's learning ability. Typically I am a hands on teacher and enjoy using as many visuals as possible.

I love working with children and have two of my own. I am able to meet children where they are. I love to see the "Aha" moment when children figure out a concept. A lot of schools and classrooms are overcrowded and students need that special attention.
As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I have worked with various at-risk populations, including child with behavioral and emotional problems. The role of the teacher is to be a facilitator. The teacher facilitates the students in making personal decisions as well as participates in discussions that affect society. The teacher also helps build a foundation in subject matter to help develop a lifelong appreciation and understanding of the world through different disciplines.
In May of 2010, I successfully completed my fourth year of teaching. Each year has been different. The children of today learn in many different ways. There has been a change in learning styles over the course of time. Some children may learn through hands on activities and modeling, while others learn through lecture. A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that I can relate to children because I am also a child at heart. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening). By learning the child's learning type you can tell which method appeals to them and can create a learning environment to encourage their growth at a faster rate. I also have a history in the theatrical arts and vocal music performance which can assist in grasping the child's attention during those times of relaxed focus. Lastly, I feel that positive encouragment is key to building confidence and trust in those students with lowered self esteem.
