Sometimes teaching means showing a different way to do it. I have learned the skills needed for students to learn and remember what they have learned. Learning needs to have importance to a student. They need to understand why they need to learn the things they are being taught. Then it makes more sense to them. Many times, especially in science, students do not like a subject, because it is not explained in terms they understand. I believe the key is to relate any subject to something the students already understand/love. If a student needs help in math and they love M&M’s, then you can find an equation for the various colors in a bag of M&M’s or find the surface area of an M&M. Everything relates to everything, the connection just needs to be made.
