As a Merchant Marine and Chief Steward I have taught, tutored, or mentor kids of all ages and backgrounds. My passion when teaching is to try and breakdown the subject to it's most basic level. In community college I began working at a youth center and became a youth counselor/tutor. I helped students ages 9-20 in a variety of academic subjects, especially ELA. I spent three years working there and when I moved to another job as a Case Manager in a middle school, I still spent every afternoon at the center volunteering my time.
