In community college I began working at a youth center and became a youth counselor/tutor. I helped students ages 9-20 in a variety of academic subjects, especially ELA. I spent three years working there and when I moved to another job as a Case Manager in a middle school, I still spent every afternoon at the center volunteering my time. When I moved to Riverside for school I spent many fieldwork hours with elementary students and that continued with my student teaching. I student taught in a fourth grade and a second grade class.
