None of my family had gone to college, so it was predicted I would not either. I had a hunger to learn, so I systematically worked full-time and studied part-time, earning eight major degrees in cities where they alowed residency rquirements to be met in such a way. I was young and energetic, so it was a lot of work, but a joy. It took about 15 years to finally earn my doctorate. Along the way, I earned certification in a half dozen fields (especially loved English, social stuides, and psychology). I was employed for decades in education, teaching full-time for five years, often teaching on the side when I was counselor or administrator. I love helping people who are learning in a field that I love. I chose to go into accounting while I was still in high school and I haven't had a regret yet. It's a very useful skill to have and I've found it to be in demand and very versitle over the years. I enjoy trying to find new ways to explain things to people, it's a challenge. I love to see the light come on! I'd like to think I could help people get into a field where they love to go to work. I have 3 kids of my own and have the patience to help your child through their work.
I have been doing tax preparation, audits, finacial statement preparation, accounting, data entry, monthly reconciliation, forensic accounting, and preparing trial balances while in college and there after. I have taken Excel classes and can use Power point. I have mentored peers within my office.

A Little Bit About Me...

Working with such a diverse population of students ranging from grades 3-12, I have learned that each child processes information in different ways. Assisting them in overcoming their learning disability has taught me to understand and identify their struggles and how they can work through them. I teach positive social and communication skills through small group discussions and lecture based presentations. Much of my teaching experience is rooted in one-on-one and small group interaction. I believe that every child has the right to an equal education and that every support service that is available should be provided. I truly enjoy the challenge of motivating a student through difficulties they may encounter in academics. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a unique approach to teaching because my background is both analytical (numbers and science) and imaginative (theater and literature). While classroom training is my forte, I also have a solid background in teaching online. This combination is particularly useful since no two children learn in the same way. I do not believe any student is dumb. If he or she has struggled picking up a concept, it is more likely because the right method of teaching has not yet been explored. I also believe educational advancement needs to be determined objectively by comparing scores from start to finish and subjectively by measuring a student's own feelings about his or her progress.
