Tutoring different levels of math at the Columbus Technical College for the past 10 years. I work in the math tutoring lab where various students come for various levels of math help. I help students with General Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Algebra and College Algebra. I work with students on the computer, help them with scientific calculators, and help them solve problems on paper.

I am a huge advocate of learning 'why' something happens vs 'how' it happens. In mathematics, anyone can learn a formula, an expression, or an equation if they look at it enough times, but they would not know how to apply it in real life situations. However, if a students learns the application of the formula and how it works, bigger chances they will remember it or can derive it when recalling the information. Learning the 'why' WILL lead to learning the 'how' I have excelled in mathematics going all the way back to elementary school. Studied general mathematics in college. I like to have one on one tutoring sessions free from any distractions in order for the student to pay more attention.
