I have been a tutor at a local elementary school where my students were very successful. As a future teacher, I am learning and growing in the skills necessary to now take on and help educate children in the common core. I have been an assistant teacher, a teacher's aide and an after school teacher. I have worked in many different settings including pre-school, elementary and middle school. I have recently retired after 30+ years as an elementary special and regular education teacher. For the past 15 years I have also worked as a tutor for the city of White Plains. I have done extensive private tutoring for the past 20 years. For 17 years I worked as an elementary special education classroom teacher at New York Hospital in an out-patient day treatment program. This program involved elementary school age children who displayed severe emotional and academic difficulties and were unable to function in a regular school setting.
