Experience Summary
I have taught in the education field since 1999. I am very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with a multitude of learners in a variety of environments. Early in my career I worked with adults that were mentally and physically challenged. I found this very rewarding and decided to pursue a degree in education, which lead me on my journey into the world of Special Education. I began working with children and young adolescents who had a variety of special needs and learning styles; I went on to specialized Autism and Special Education for K-12. After working with young children for many years I decided to branch out to work with young adolescents and adults pursuing their high school equivalency. Working with young adolescents and adults proved to be just as rewarding as working with small children. Helping someone achieve a life long dream of obtaining their high school diploma, assisting students with enrolling in college, watching a child spell their name for the first time, see a struggling Math student solve a problem on their own for the first time, communicating with s student through a PECs system that never had a voice, etc. are all reasons I do what I do. There is no other job, I feel, that can offer the experience, love and gratification I have found in my career as a teacher.
