I have taught private flute lessons for 10+ years from beginners to advanced and children to adults. I have also helped with marching and concert bands as a woodwind instructor in local schools. I started taking flute lessons at the age of 12 under the instruction of Betsy Hudson-Traba, principal flutist of the Sarasota Orchestra. My teaching style with my own children is conversational, hands-on, and intuitive. I explore what most captures their attention, then weave in the lessons by using any available teaching aids, such as whiteboard drawings, to illustrate a point, literally.
My German parents spoke (so-called "high", or proper) German at home in NY/NJ, which came in handy after we moved overseas when I was 13.
