I graduated in 2004 form Portland State University with a Social Sciene degree. I have been in teaching since 2008 when I passed my substitute teachers class. Since that time I subbed off and on until January 2010 when I got a long term assignment In the ALC at Hilo High School. I thought English, Math and really learned a lot through my experience. I have graduated Radio Engineering University and have received Bachelor in “Machinery and Technology” as well as Engineering degree –“Standardization and certification”, both are with HONORS. I am also trained in International Standards ISO 9000 series and connected quality assurance techniques. Recently I have been working as Process Engineer for the Manufacture of printed circuit boards. Mathematics, statistics, metrology and everything connected with logic were my favorite subjects. Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching/mentoring/tutoring style is tailored to the student. I do not believe their is a generic teaching style that will help all students. Most people I have worked with have difficulty understanding a couple of key points and once that obstacle is overcome learning accelerates until the next obstacle is reached. I enjoy giving the students individual attention. I noticed that often students are ashamed to ask for help or ask questions in front of the class. It is important to walk around the classroom and ask students how they are doing and if they understand the concepts. Many times it only then will a student accept help. Students have a wide range of learning styles. It is important to remember that when helping students. I like to break down a lesson into simpler ideas so it is easier to learn.
