IMPROVE READING AND WRITING SCORES IN CLASS AND ON THE ACT.

I have been an AP Literature and Composition teacher as well as Twelfth grade Language Arts instructor for over 16 years. I am acutely aware of the needs of students as it relates to mastering reading and writing skills. I have also taught an ACT Prep course for the past 5 years after extensive training at workshops and conferences. I know the importance of identifying weaknesses in reading, writing, and on standardized tests such as the ACT and directing my instruction to those weaknesses. I am especially skilled at targeting writing weaknesses as it relates to both rhetoric and mechanics as I am a practicing writer myself. I have worked with children throughout college, both in academic and nonacademic settings. I worked on a family literacy program at the Mississippi Childrens Museum, called Planting the Seeds to Read, which entailed teaching children literacy skills and coaching parents in literacy strategies for home. Language Arts is one of my top subjects! I am a certified 6-12 grade teacher English teacher. The past 4 years, I have taught 9th, 10th, and 11th grade English in a public school setting. I have many resources available to assist in a variety of English emphasis'.

I have taught a mixture of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade English over the past 4 years. Teaching is a second career for me and is something that I absolutely love!
