Fueling Our Future Leaders for Tomorrow's Success!

I have worked as a Sunday school teacher instructing children ages ten through sixteen. I also taught vacation Bible school during the summers. During my senior year of high school, I mentored a young lady named Olivia Draper with whom I received a $2500.00 scholarship from Champions for Children for college.I also worked as a substitute teacher for Madison County Schools in 2009-2010. I worked most of my substituting assignments at the alternative school. I fell in love with the desire to teach students while working with the students there. I noticed there is a need for passionate educators. I plan to begin the movement.
I am very patient, and I take pride in my ability to relate to so many different students at different grade levels. I am not strict, but I expect hard work and dedication from my pupils.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : Grade of Excellent

I believe sometimes it is the teacher failing not the student. To become a Doctor we don't always have a choice. i was blind in my left eye and completed on a level equal to all other students. Now they call them special needs. I believe in cognitive dissonance is best way of knowing the retention is high. Repetition is not like having the knowledge of the empirical charts in chemistry and memorizing. A scientific method is used to achieve this by chemist. A degree teaches us "How to Learn" in any subject or later in "Work any Job.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : As a computer programmer or systems analyst, I kept my math skills sharp through my entire career.

Math and algebra were my best subjects in high school and college. As a computer programmer, I would frequently have to solve a "word problem" before creating a program that implemented my solution. Some of my programs include a statistical analysis of traffic data, a calculation of yield to maturity of long term bonds, implementation of federal tax withholding for pension checks, a mortgage or loan program, and the creation of round robin pairing tables for chess.
I try to see what the student already knows and go from there. Of course it is important that a student get an assigned math problem correct, but it is also important that the student UNDERSTANDS why something works and how that can be applied to other problems when a tutor or teacher isn't present.

I believe that every child has a chance at being the person they have always dreamed of becoming. Sometimes those children just need a little boost of confidence. I gained great confidence through my mother in college and I would like to pass on her encouragement to others who may need it. I believe every child can reach his or her goal if only they can get the correct guidance. Anyone can be a mentor for a child. I strive on being a great mentor for anyone who needs encouragement. My goal is to help a child succeed in there dreams. Even if its something as small as helping them write a scholarship essay. Every child deserves a real chance at succeeding.

My teaching styles involves teaching concepts and methods that can be broken down in order to understand what concept is being taught at that moment. In which, strategies, assessments, and other demonstrations should be implemented in a teacher’s instructional unit and curriculum to allow higher thinking skills to be activated that will promote a great learning atmosphere. I will love to be able to help transform students from a high school level of learning to challenge them at a higher thinking capability by providing a mental picture of each concept and be able to reach all learning styles.
