In my past tutoring experiences for language arts I did everything from flash cards of sight words, to word games, and short stories, to poetry. The process is just as important as the product. If a student can come up with the correct answer, but he or she has no idea how or why it is correct or how they got it, I feel like their learning is incomplete. Especially in Math, but also in many other subjects, concepts build upon each other.
