My comments on tutoring Spanish : Second language

I use multiple methods of instruction such as gestures, repetition, body language, contextual clues, pictures and animation.
I have two years of experience at an elementary school, and another year in high school level, on a boarding school, both in France. Concerning my teaching experiences , currently I’m working in three different places here in Puerto Rico. I work as French assistant at the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan. First and foremost I believe in teaching/tutoring from where the student is when I meet her or him. This is because if I don't appreciate and understand what the student knows, I can't really begin to imagine where to proceed in order to help them achieve their potential. A proverb I once heard best describes my teaching philosophy: "Tell me and I forget, show me and I remember, involve me and I become." Thus, my goal as a tutor is to help students discover for themselves. That way learning becomes not only more engaging, but more lasting as well.
