As an engineering graduate from BYU, I have extensive training in physics and math, as well as a solid foundation in how to apply these studies to real life situations. Problem solving is a strong suit, and I feel the principles gained from engineering studies apply to a host of fields where the primary objective is solving problems. I believe that once a student can enjoy the process of learning they can begin to internalize the good study habits required for academic success. I use a constructivist teaching method and often use Socratic teaching as a means to have students thinking independently about their work. I am also interested in learning how each student learns so as to get the best results. I believe I'm a natural teacher, enthusiastic, intelligent, and an unusual memory for detail. I enjoy creating interesting contexts for students to learn from, and the intuition to know when a student is making progress. I have my BA in Natural Science and a Minor in Biology from UH Hilo. I then persued a Masters degree in Education and focused on Special Education. I have done a variety of power point reports and researches and have done extensive researches on various areas in the education field.
