I work well with people and students. I love science and basic subjects. I enjoy working with different types of people and students. I helped in various grades in Waikoloa Elementary School. I assisted in performing lessons with the students and working with them one on one.I know the importance in education and getting the students to become interested again in what they can learn.
I have my BA in Natural Science and a Minor in Biology from UH Hilo. I then persued a Masters degree in Education and focused on Special Education. I have worked as a teacher on the Big Island, and spent over ten years as a volunteer trainer at public access television facilities in New York and Texas. I am currently seeking tutoring work as I complete the last year of my online "masters in elementary education" program. I have a bachelors in Psychology, and twenty years of working experience, 5 in supervisory positions. I can teach elementary and high school level work. In the past I have taught primarily science, media and reading/writing. I am current on modern tutoring methods and practices.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent of 4 children, I have a love for teaching in a variety of settings. I gain a sense of the students' interests and tie every subject back to something they are interested in. They need to "see" what difference their studies make. Learning needs to be a love, and I let my love for learning help to create that desire in the student. Once the desire is strong, the knowledge base grows easily. Patience and positive energy have served me well in tutoring younger students, and more mature students also seem to respond well to this approach.
As an engineering graduate from BYU, I have extensive training in physics and math, as well as a solid foundation in how to apply these studies to real life situations. I love working with kids. I believe that the kids are our future and if we adults don't help them grow up to be leaders and make better choices in their lives we will not have any sense of direction.
