As an engineering graduate from BYU, I have extensive training in physics and math, as well as a solid foundation in how to apply these studies to real life situations. Problem solving is a strong suit, and I feel the principles gained from engineering studies apply to a host of fields where the primary objective is solving problems. I believe that once a student can enjoy the process of learning they can begin to internalize the good study habits required for academic success. I use a constructivist teaching method and often use Socratic teaching as a means to have students thinking independently about their work. I am also interested in learning how each student learns so as to get the best results. I believe I'm a natural teacher, enthusiastic, intelligent, and an unusual memory for detail. I have worked with children since 1991. My concentration during my undergraduate studies was neuroendocrinology. However, after attaining my B.A. in Psychology, I loved working with children so much that I decided to work in the mental health field, serving children and adolescents.
